In this tutorial, I learned how to create a surreal image which also has to feel and look like a traditional image. I learned how to blend images together, use shadows and lighting and create reflections on photoshop and also how to blend textures together in order to enhance the image and make it look like a traditional painting.

First of all I had to create the sky with its reflection on the sea which will serve as the background of my picture. I made the reflection look realistic by adding a little Motion Blur.   

I then made the reflection on the sea more realistic by blending an image of the sea to it. Firstly I desaturate the water's colour in order to make it blend nicely with the sky and its reflection. Also, by using an Eraser tool i was able to make the horizon in this image look seamless

I then added the platform to where the phone booth and the lost woman will be situated. In order to create its reflection in the water I activated the Polygonal Lasso Tool where could select the area and blend it in with the water to make it seamless. The result of erasing and reducing the Opacity is shown above

The next step was to create a phone booth to be positioned on the platform, i did this by selecting around the area i wanted to cut by using the Magnetic Lasso tool. I then adjusted the Brightness/Contrast of the layer and removed all the distracting plan on the booths lower area by using the Clone Stamp tool. 

This was the final image so far with the platform and phone booth. The next step was to create a reflection for the phone booth and then add on a woman to the image.

-BOOK-

First of all I placed a landscape image to be the background by simply moving around the layers. I then added in a wooden background behind the book for this to appear as a table for the book placed on

In this step i changed the colors and brightness and replaced the pages with a grass effect

Once I added the road onto the book I began to create a shadow in the crease of the book in order to make it appear more 3D. 

Here I began to add objects onto the book by using the magic lasoo tool for the trees and just simply cutting out the lamp and placing a layer on and creating a shadow with the burn tool. 

Target Audience

I used www.surveymonkey.com in order to find out how gain my target audience for my music video. I created a survey as a way to collect responses from potential viewers in order to help me create my own music video so that it will include typical conventions that would be expected in music videos of the same genre. From the results, it appears that my key demographic will be people who are between the ages of 17-25 consisting of mainly females.

These are the results displayed through pie charts and column charts. As you can see, the most preferred genre of music is indie, followed by acoustic, rock and pop. For my own music video I have chosen to use an indie song which I feel will fit in well with my target audiences preferences.

As you can see there is a variety of different responses however some are more evident than others

This is an important question when it comes to creating my video as locations play a huge part in any music video. From the results above it appears to show that the most popular locations people would expect to see are mainly beaches, sand dunes, forrests etc. Therefore in my music video i will try to incorporate these particular locations. 

Key Demographic

This is Hermione, she is 18 years old. Her favourite genre of music is indie and she likes to listen to artists like Laura Marling, Birdy, Jack Johnson and Gabrielle Aplin. Hermione is a full time student currently studing P.E, Psychology. Music and ICT. In her free time she enjoys playing the guitar and spending time with her friends at the beach.
